In a press release today Blizzard Entertainment announced their 2012 Battle.net World Championship "somewhere" in Asia "toward the end of 2012." Because of this additional scheduling Blizzard has decided to cancel BlizzCon 2012. The conference (which has run concurrently in Anaheim, California since 2005) will be held again in 2013 barring any future changes in planning. While a major change in Blizzard's eSports policy (likely a change for the positive) this will also have a profound impact upon the StarCraft community. Likely this means less communication between the community, and more emphasis on eSports related content. Source: Blizzard.com
Whelp, there goes that event that always increases activity. Though it's a bit odd to choose not to do this, concidering that means they would go without showing off their games for about a year. Which is pretty bad news for the release dates of all games currently in production.
