BlizzCon 2009 Announced

Could this be when the beta will be announced? Hopefully we'll get it before then but it could go either way at the moment. Is anyone going?

 

wait...if beta testing doesn't start until late August, then how would a 2009 release be possible since testing would likely take about 6 months?

 

Interesting point But, I guess all I can say is that the indirect 2009 release date confirmation is shakey at best. Meaning that's what Blizzard wants to do but not necessarily can do.

Also, I guess with the trademark issues over StarCraft: Ghost, it's possible we'll be seeing a re-announcement of the game. An announcement of the new MMO is also likely.

 

Damn I need a new computer. And pardon my ignorence but what's in Paris? Blizzard seems to like that place. Is there some kind of branch office there?

 

Hmm, it does seem to mess with our speculations a bit about the release date. Maybe Blizzard just wants to mess with us about the Starcraft II Beta release date.

 

@kuvasz good point they had WWI there and now blizzcon? i have no idea why they picked paris maybe it has something to do with money

 

It may still be possible to have a late 2009 release, with how much work they have already put into the game I'm hoping that they won't need a long beta like most companies end up needing.

 

me and my dad are planning on taking a plane down there this year, hopefully ill be able to get us some tickets.

Me thinks it's possible that they announced BlizzCon so early this year because it's a hint to when the beta will go public. I find it interesting that Blizzard's been talking a lot about the beta for the past few weeks and dropping hints all over the place and then they give us this.

I felt the same way about a year ago. I was "antsy" to the point that it was pretty much painful I had to forcefully make myself slowdown.

 

Damn. Hopefully this doesn't mean it'll be released before the end of the year.

I don' want it interruptin' mah HSC's.

 

We'd have to already be in beta for a Q2 or Q3 release date to make any sense. Have no fear. Your HSC's are safe... whatever they are

 

I have no school at that time and I live near Anaheim. I'll be there!

 

One thing I like about beta, imagine all the youtube/megavideo/veoh vids that will show the games done by testers.

I'm hoping that some of the SC commentators on youtube will do a few of the games done during beta in SC2.

 

I agree EonMaster. That's really the only reason I even care about the beta. If the beta didn't give us this information, I would rather just get on the internet one day and see a StarCraft 2 release date. It's much easier, for me, to wait for something when I'm not obsessing about it.

I consider the beta period the end of the painful waiting. If I have a relatively large amount of content to keep me satisfied then I can wait a long, long, long time before I get impatient

And, if Klazart doesn't do a few commentaries during the beta I will be severely disappointed

 

I agree beacause there is no way i will ever be able to get a beta key so i just want to see a load of fresh content

 

Well it may be illegal but besides the videos on youtube I'm confident some person will end up putting a torrent of beta around the net along with a copy of the key.

 

yeah with all the koreans in korea one will surface eventually
