If anyone's noticed when the Darktemplars come to kill the marines, they seem to have different death animations. The angle that they stumble over when they die is unique, as well as falling forward or falling backwards . For units that usually end up dead throughout the game, thats going to be pretty interesting to watch. Speaking strictly on infantry (organic-class terrans), being sliced up by psi weaponary/zerg claws look like it'll result in several possible death animations, and that hopefully means that it'll also be different when they get fragged by siege tanks/nuked or even death by heat-lance from the colossus! Heres to hoping for unique death animations for all the units!
Yap they are so good in fighting when it comes to Starcraft 2 compared to starcraft and Starcraft Broodwar but i really confused about the new Dark templar because of its new Image..
Death animations are looking real cool in Starcraft II and WuHT - if you watch some of the videos out there you can see even more animations. Marines get disintegrated by the Nuke, they burn and roll around when hit with Plasma Torpedo, they fall into different pieces depending on how Zealots/Zerglings hit them, and sometimes they just fall over. Neat stuff! And @ Protosscommander - what about the new Dark Templar image is confusing? Side note - this is my 100th post I am now a regular!!!
Congrats ninerman, here's a celebratory owerup: On an on-topic note, I can live without the death animations. I mean sure, they're fun and interesting to watch, but shouldn't time be better spent on maintaining game balance or refining some of the chunky graphics? ~Pix~
@ Pix, eh maybe but little things like death animations and attack animations quickly add up to make a difference on how finished the game fels and looks.
Pix where've you been? Haven't seen you in the longest time. We joined around the same time, but I guess you haven't been much active here. Good to see you again.
Karune confrimed in a video, where he's showing someone playing SC2 certain things, that (as an example) depending on how the Zealot attacks the Marine could get sliced through his waist or he'll get cut vertically and after a second, fall apart.
Thats one thing thats so special about starcraft compared to warcraft/other strategy games; The violence!!! When a medic dies in bw its just crazy. Its always the same animation, so its funny to see the medic getting blast to pieces by a fusion cutter
Gee - thanks Remy, didn't know I made much of an impact. I've been mainly lurking for a while. I got a little tired of the "post as much as possible to grab minerals" thing. Now, I think it's calmed down since the implementation of the new system. There's more room to breathe, ya know? Anyways, I think I'm inclined to agree that Starcraft's most lovable aspect was the violence... Oh, alright! You've swayed my opinion. Multiple death animations FOR TEH FREAKIN WIN! *cough* That is all >.> ~Pix~
I always liked the pile of meat a dead hydralisk left behind... I dont know why, it just looked cool in some way... ribs...
Indeed and i must note if you watch the viking as it is ripped apart it looks like its being torn to pieces by some fast object and the sparks make it even better good job blizzard.
Poor Viking... And those horrible Dark Templars.. If only Siege Tanks where detectors, all the DT-problems would be solved
Well the destruction buildings and ships in AoE3 was dictated by the path of the cannon ball using the physics engien. Since SC2 has a physics engine no reason it can't be done here
