Blizzard will be at GDC 08

Game Developers Conference begins on Feb 18th. Blizzard is listed as an exhibitor.

Could this be the time that they reveal the Zergs to the public?

 

I think so. The other two races were released at major game events, so the zerg, being highly anticipated, would likely follow the others. It makes sense that the zerg would be unveiled at a large Conference since there will be many gamers in the area, so the publicity would be huge.

Seeing as I'm unable to go, I hope someone records it an posts it a youtube. I don't even know about these events (noob alert!).

 

I also think Blizzard will reveal the Zergs at GDC. There is also the possibility that they might reveal bits and pieces before GDC. Remember that the Terrans were revealed by some Swedish/German Magazines? After that, they were fully demonstrated at BlizzCon.

Here is hoping that Blizzard will follow this trend.

1. Zergs is introduced from some sort of magazine/website before GDC
2. At GDC, we have a full gameplay video of the Zergs.

GDC is a good place to announce things, yes, but is it the kind of place Blizzard would announce a race at? GDC is a specialized conference, not meant for fans or the media directly.

 

Are there any other conferences coming up shortly after GDC?

If not, then this seems like the best choice for the zerg release. Since everyone wants to see the zerg, the demo appearing at some gaming conference/showcase is the best way to release them.

 

What is the Game Developers Conference about? What will happen there? I hope they reveal a little bit of Zerg at least.

I will be dissapointed if they do not release the zerg, I want to see if they will overtake my desire to play protoss. Zerg is my most commonly used race, and protoss are second.

I wonder how the new zerg buildings and creep will look. How long goes GDC last, I've never heard about it until this thread.

 

At GDC developers talk about developer things. They talk about ... development. They talk about things like mechanics, trends, independent games, serious games, business, art, and programming. The do demo their games, but usually to illustrate a specific concept they are trying to explain.

Dear God let it be Zerg. It's already been too long.

 

I hope it's Zerg too, but I don't think it's going to be in GDC they'll release it. Both the Terran and the Protoss were released at Blizzard-only events where they were sure to get all the attention they deserved and could schedule/plan their events as they needed. A more public event like this doesn't seem to be the place where they'll release something as big as the Zerg.
