    The latest and greatest of the series of news update programs released by Blizzard, StarCraft II: Battle Report is now online. The first in what appears to be a series of versus-style commentated matches which aim to showcase the latest units and their abilities, this lengthy video is voiced by Dustin Browder and a member of the e-Sports team at Blizzard.

    The video is very high quality and is a departure from Blizzard's former flagship feedback program, BlizzCast, and brings a more direct, show-me style of information clearly directed more at serious StarCraft players.

    The match is a very interesting Terran vs Protoss on a large map named Kulas Ravine. The Protoss opts for a quick-tech strategy while the Terran goes quickly for a large-scale Barracks build with an emphasis on the tank-like infantry unit Marauders. The match is a very nice showcase of the Warp-In technology for the Protoss and should clarify its process for players who were unsure of the mechanic from past examples. It also shows the hearty advantage provided by the Protoss Charge.

    It was excellent ! I hope Blizzard will release soon other videos. It would be good if they release them, one per month minimum, just to give us the envy to play :D

    Some suggestions for this game already ? Yes ... maybe the vespene geyser. I don't like their form. They should be modified.

    The stalker is modified ! He walks like a big phasma. :D

    Well the game is already great now. We just saw some units, not all of them. Let's see an epic battle in space between some Protoss and Zerg soon maybe ...

    nice video. I see alot of people complaining about the colossus being too weak. I dont think the colossus is the unit to use agenst terrens. This guy lost because he used the wrong units. when he got to cyber core and twilight councle he should of went immortals/zelots/stalkers. the colossus are going to take haeavy hits since there armored vs murauders.

    I guess massinga cheeper unit vs a expensive ARMORED unit was a bad idea. Even if you are going to go colossus vs terrens atleast have immortals (real dmg takers) in the way. Terrens seem to be the king of large unit killers with tanks and murauders so staying smaller units would of been smarter

    hit points: 125
    Minerals: 100
    gas: 25

    vs

    Colossus
    dmg: 16
    hit points 200 + 150= 350 total
    Minerals: 300
    gas: 200

    oh well. This was the bast sc2 vid i seen next to the blizzcon matches. If this is blizzards new mounthly thing i cant wait for more. Like a vampire this has feed me enough.... for now.....

    Like the Sonkie vs Yellow game, this was fun to watch. Commentary for the fanatic fans (like myself), and decent gameplay, I guess. (S vs Y had better gameplay, IMO.)

    It was nice to see a terran game without siege tanks; that was a pretty good reminder this wasn't StarCraft I :)

    I think maybe the reason the Protoss player used the "wrong units" was that he was supposed to follow a certain build so Blizzard could showcase what it wanted without showing too much.

    well that dosent make much sence. Immortals arnt new units. But i think your right some how this battle might of been highly staged so that it would only give us an Aw feeling and not rise too many questions. Watching the movie theres so much the protoss player could of done and being on the dev team as i'm pritty sure both guys are he would of known colossus vs terrans is a bad choice.

    the the movie is still nice :)

    +10 to proxy pylon :)

    awesome video, some parts of this clip was actually shown in that 5 minute blizzcon video. Good stuff, keep up the work blizzard =]

    This is pretty sweet and an appropriate Christmas/Hanukah/Holiday present for us fans. If they release these videos anywhere near as quickly as the Q & A's, I will find it much easier to endure waiting for this awesome game.

    Then again, maybe not. Haha.

    hehe

    If only they had used siege tanks etc, i acctually feel that this match was somewhat "fixed" since no sane protoss player at high level of play use that kind of units

    atleast afaik it would be more immortals, high templars etc out in a TvP match

    oh and why didnt the stalkers blink once? :p

    LJYLJ your right as hell, any sane person who knows what a murauder can do to heavy units wouldnt of made colssi, Or would of atleast stopped after seeing the first 2 or 3 die that fast. and i guess the terren player was afraid of seeing blink/charge up under his tanks. But blink is a must anyways so the protoss played kinda desurved to loose.

    and the 2 Vespine geysers are low in supplies and shut down after a while (turn red) but come back later (turn green)

    Is it true that Blizzard is testing each unit against each other unit to programme the balance of the races ?

    For instance Blizzard will test the firepower of a marine against another marine, then against a siege tank, then against a zealot, a zergling, a colossus, a mothership, a probe, a larva, etc ..., etc .... etc ....

    And then the same marine with a +1 armor against the same units.

    And ... once the marine is calculated ... Blizzard will define the same balance with a zergling against a marine, against a viking, a hydralisk, a dark templar, etc .... etc .... etc ....

    Then the same zergling with a +1 armor against ALL the units.


    So if my answer to my question is YES, that means Blizzard has a HUUUUGE job to accomplish. I hope they will take their time because I don't want a tsunami of patches to fix a lot of bugs and, above all, unbalances

    Heck no! Blizzard knows the numbers and can do statistics with calculators.

    Until balancing, they're more interested in dealing with new mechanics which are often buggy when first implemented. They're also testing out strategies and other things too complicated to do with calculators.

    Probably the protoss player didn't know about immortals so he didn't use them.

    The zealot's charge looks so cool, and it was cool how the probe just outrun the marine too.

    I thought that the group of marauders moving around looked like a total mess. I downloaded the HD version to see if it made a difference, but it didn't really. For me the biggest problem with SC2 is that it is too hard to make out individual units - the group of marines, marauders and the new flamethrower tank just looked like a blue blob moving around the map.

    I don't think this is a problem for the other races, the protoss were fine, and in older vids the zerg were okay as well in this respect. I did notice that some of the terran buildings were improved, like the bunker, but I think they still need to make improvements to the units. To be fair, the reapers and vikings are fine but group some SCVs and Marauders together and I think you've got a major issue visually.

    the commentators mentioned time and time again that these players were at a high level and they had seen them play lots of games

    but i cant shake this feeling that for instance in the start, the first stalker vs first marauder why didnt the protoss player just retreat hes stalker instead of watching it die, and when he attacked he just let them stand there and die even though he was sure to loose, its like in normal starcraft dragoons vs marines, if ur goons are getting raped u just retreat them, reinforce and go own the marines later instead of just standing there letting them die..


    and i also agree with this "blob" of the terran units, first off this looks ugly, and imagine like a psisonic storm in there, devestating

    but i have confidence blizzard will fix these issues as the game is only in alpha stage
