After blizzards announcement with forum post StarCraft II Beta Test Opt-in i got really upset with the following statement So I were thinking about what i should do, ignore it? make a forum post? or something else? i decided to send a mail to blizzard to raise my concern. Now after I got an email from blizzard I don’t think that’s enough, I would like to know what the community thinks about this. This is the following mail I sent to blizzard: And this is the answer I got: So my question is what do you think? am I over reacting? did blizzard make the right move? or the wrong one?
Hmmm, I think Blizzard are doing the right'ish thing. If X person used the beta code for WotLK, but didn't actually participate, then it isn't their fault its the X persons. If they allowed people to reuse the code, eBay will flood with them etc etc.
You managed to get 3 beta keys for WOTLK, and you complain. Dude. Why even use all 3? I would have taken my chances and saved one. Blizzard did exactly what they promised, and converted the keys after that. If you think about it, they actually did lots of people a favor by letting them use the key anyway. Tough luck, I would say. Still, most people would already be happy to even participate in a single Blizzard beta...
Sure i got 3 WOTLK beta keys (ps, one from wwi code 2 from optin) the problem here is that i would have traded them all for a starcraft 2 beta key. And blizzard did far from what they promised. They said that the WWI key were ONLY for WOTLK beta, and now (~1.5 year later) changed there mind and said that if you havent used the wwi beta code you could use it for Starcraft 2 beta. Alot of starcraft 2 fans (inc myself) would have saved the key insted of giving it away, using it, hell even selling it. From my impressions it feels like alot of you is missing the point that blizzard said something, and then did something else. And since we trusted blizzards first statement our chanse to get in to the starcraft 2 beta have drop from 100% to something extreme slim.
Blizzard also trusts you not to sell your key and make money from it. Meh, look at how many times other developers change their minds about these things. I seriously think that Blizzard has kept more of their promises then any other company. Further, they actually did something extra. The initial rule was that the key was only to be used in WOTLK. Then they removed that restriction. I think this is nice of them, and people who were unable to use their key get a new chance now. You cannot always win.
You're overreacting. Blizzard changed their mind, in a good way. It'll benefit some people, at least.
I like it Idk I like how you said that everyone gets a key or no one does! Makes total sense, I think blizzard is doing the right thing though, think what would happen if u could reuse it, Ebay would swarm with SC II BETA KEy 50.00
Care to elaborate? And, since when did you start caring about the past when it comes to predicting Blizzard? Our past conversations led me to believe you couldn't care less about such things.
This. One and half years later. That's 547 days later dear fellow. I think a major company is eligible to change their mind in one and a half years time.
I dont understand this!? You are complaining because blizzard is giving som users an extra chance to use their beta keys!? Whiner???
Your not alone, i threw my card out because they made it clear that the code wasnt for Starcraft. When i found out the other month this can now be used for Starcraft i was slightly gutted, Yes i shouldnt have threw it out, but at the same time, there was no mention of it being used for the SC2 Beta and i had no interest in WoW. I too sent them a mail to see if they could look me up on a system maybe to prove i had gone, this is what you call desperation lol. They might aswell have sent me an email back just saying "no" and signed it off, because it was as blunt as you can get. I do think it was handled abit unfairly, but at the end of the day mate, you will play it, no matter what it wil eventually be released, its all good.
