Can any mobo other than the Pheonix Award Winning BIOS be used on an Dell Inspirion 530s Motherboard? I hate that Bios cause it disables my ability to attempt over clocking =/
THIS IS FOR ALL YOU WANNABE NERDS You cannot overclock on a 'enterprise' type motherboard. (OMG, WTF does enterprise mean?!) Enbterprise being Sony, Dell, Toshiba, Compaq, HP. Why? Becuase they dont want people who dont know crap burning there hardware and than having it replaced only to get burned out again. You can only OC on GENERIC motherboards becuase they are 1) Not used for the general public. 2) Purchased by gamers, or people who know what they are doing 3) People wouldnt buy a motherboard unless they knew what they were doing in the first place. If that didnt answer your question, Companies like Dell, have there own bios (most of the time) that configures everything for the user already, and it shouldnt be tampered with.
Oh. I thought Inspirons were solely laptops while Dimensions were their desktop line. My bad. Anyways, I couldn't find any hard sources. I'd fire off an email to Dell tech support?
DIDNT I JUST EXPLAIN TO YOU why you couldnt OC? Some MoBo's even lack that capability, if you try installing or 'flashing' the bios with another bios brand, you can destroy the computer completley. **Edit Due to lack of ignorance of my post. I suggest you flash your BIOS, put on a new BIOS and hope it works, Fire a email to Dell, cuase they will just laugh at you. I definatly disregard EVERYTHING i just told you regarding WHY you can OC with a non-generic MoBo
I believe it is possible to update to overclockable bios... (custom made)... do a search on google.com still i don't like dell motherboard
You could flash the bios, but like others have said it would more than likely just not work anymore. Also, it's likely your board just plain doesn't have the ability to overclock. It's a super cheap generic board and has only the bare essential functionality.
