Beta Anticipation

Would it be inappropriate to make a thread for people who are crawling out of their skin, waiting for the beta to start, to gather? What are your plans for the beta? Do you have time set aside already to play it? Do you intend to send a lot of feedback on balance and design, do you just plan to enjoy yourself and send mostly bug reports? What race do you predict is going to be the best "fit" for you? We can exchange the names we will be using, as well.

I figured we could harness all the anxiousness into one thread (WITH A POSITIVE VIBE, PLEASE!), and maybe plan some movies, matches, blogs and commentaries for people who won't be participating in the beta.

 

Sounds like a good idea to me, would be nice to have a place to plan some matches and movie opertunites. I just hope I'm a bit better at SC2 then i am at the first sc. Used to be good then, i found DoW and Warhammer took over my life and it still has control.

Anyway, yeah its a good idea.

 

I'll set up something in a few minutes.

 

I'd say this entire forum is already dedicated to this but this topic couldn't possibly hurt anything Beta fever has taken us all!

 

Hopefully I'll be able to get a computer in time for the beta. I would love to be able to have a chance to play it as early as possible. However, I'm sure I'll be fine watching videos that pop up and such.

 

I have a Starcraft Battlechest, WC3+XP, and All three WoW releases registered on my Battle.net account.

Do you think owning a lot of blizzard games improves your chance to get selected for beta? Customer loyalty, so to speak?

 

It's possible but I think your computer is more important..

 

They said that the number of registered games on your bnet account does not matter.

 

So... getting the right pc? Don't they want beta testers to be experienced gamers as well?

 

They do but they want to test the balance for a wide variety of skill levels. Plus, there's really no way to check that many people's skill levels so they have to randomize it. Computer specs is important and just about the only thing they can accurate gauge each person with.

 

I've got a bad case of the "pre-beta glow". Meaning I have a very strong feeling that it is in the very near future, probably the next public incidence that Blizzard orchestrates after the Blizzcon ticket sale.

First week of June at the LATEST, I'd expect it by the end of the month, though. : D

Don't worry if your system is lower end.

"Our beta opt-in application allows us to gather information about potential beta testers' systems quickly and accurately, helping us ensure that the resulting pool of beta testers we select most closely represents the range and distribution of systems we wish to test."

They are looking for RANGE, which means they are seeking people with low to high end systems. So having a sweet computer won't make it any easier to get in.

The End Of The World As We Know It

 

Hey, I paid my dues! 3 Blizzcon trips = a couple thousand dollars! I earned my SC2 beta. =D

 

I thought about it for a while, and only could come up with about 4 better uses for ur money... Three of them involve immediate survival

Man BlizzCon sounds nice... I still think E3 must be better though

 

hehe well saraha if you happen to have 3 tickets extra i could use some.. lol
