Being a carrier lover, that first vid I could connect to. Losing them in battle is one thing, but having them turned against you much be a terrible feeling.
They are the protoss pylons. They add to you're max population allowed and are used to power thier buidings. If they are destroyed, then the buildings loss power and cannot produce units or upgrades until a new one is built.
