How can you possibly believe that they know when the game will be released. How can you even believe that the game will be available in March if the beta hasn't even started yet.

Untill a Blizzard official makes an announcement everything you see is plain speculation.

worse than speculation, it's retailers making a quick buck off the gullible and impatient.

well just thought id give ya a heads up of the fact that bestbuy is actually taking up inventory space of there store to try and sell pre-orders which is a huge difference then getting a preorder online. the reason for that is that online doesn't take up any physical space where a stores shelf does and if the space ur taking up on ur shelf isn't selling anything than its a loss and ur lossing money unlike online space.

i don't think march is realistic but maybe May or June could happen

don't expect anything earlier than fall. beta's not even out yet. march is impossible, may or june would probably be the end of the beta if they kept it short.

Stores had posters up for SC:GHOST saying, COMING SOON! Don't give in to the retail stores before Blizz says anything.

It's extra fun for me seeing pictures like the one in the OP, then thinking back on the articles about stores saying they have to close because no-one's buying their games. I mean is it only the buyers who have a responsible to be decent people, and even physically walk to the store instead of buying online (since those numbers where ignored by the whiny merchants)? :p

Its been in stores in pre order form where i live for more than a year.

The whole taking up store space just shows they are selling pre orders to nieve people...so?

People's gullibility amazes me but it's much worse when it's a forum regular :D That's called a pre-order box, in case you didn't know :D That's, of course, assuming it's not just a photoshop. Here's the truth: the game isn't even in beta. Once it goes into beta it'll still be four to six months before release. That's not close at all.

Those would be brilliant masterpieces of DNA coupling compared to what I've seen on Battle.net. When StarCraft 2 was first announced, a few hundred fools on Battle.net who heard "from a very reliable source" that StarCraft would be released October 2007. Needless to say, many of them said that they pre-ordered a copy. Now, let's say only half of those who said they did actually went through with it, that's a good 40-50 people who paid 50$ way back in 2007.

    Sad.

Also, TC/Mods, please change topic title so some unfortunate lurkers or posters won't get their hopes smashed when they read this.

They are selling something. They are selling preorders. Even if it's only a $5 place holder fee until you pick up the game they are making money.

It's actually very lucrative too. Not only will they get the full retail price when you pick it up on release; lol, what do you think that $5 is doing until then? They don't pay Activision-Blizz until the game is released to wholesalers. That 5 bucks (along with many other Lincolns) sits in a bank account accruing what is essentially free money. Don't scoff at how much interest that money will aquire in the bank either. It's the same reason some employers do their paydays on a two week schedule.

Preorders are in no way a service to the customer. They are a way of making money for doing what they are gonna do when the game ships anyways. I can't say I've ever had a prob getting a game like WC3 or GTA or either WoW xpac in store during the 1st week. I do however know people that didn't get the Wii that they had preorderd from Walmart.

Definitely forget about release dates retailers give out. The inside sleave on my SC:BW case says Diablo 2 is coming in 1999, about a year before actual release.

Mind you preordering is not such a bad idea if it's for a limited edition version of a Blizz game. Cause I know for WotLK all over Brisbane in like 20 stores everyoner was preorder sold out. But for standard editions don't bother. Blizz pumps out a million of the things so no one has to miss out.
