i Searched for this quicky but didn't really find anything.

Will online play have ranking systems, where battlenet keeps track of wins/loses and games played under your username, allowing other users to see this information?

Would be nice, great if its already done. :)

In SC and SC:BW there was a ranking system called 'Ladder' but they did away with that becuase more people play on private PGP servers now like ICCUP and SCD.

For SC2, nothing is really confirmed yet.

    Oh well, I can hope.

IMO itd be a great idea so players could go seek out other players more in line with their skill.

well if you want a ranking system you might have to do away with letting people make different accounts every other day and also games vs the computeronline cant count.

you get people with 2k wins and 25 losses and you wonder how they won all those although most know its because of games against the computer now.

they are currently working on battlenet right now as was told on the xplay interview with dustin browder and chris sigati game devs at blizzard. it better be like wc3 or better though, i hate starcrafts battlenet right now, you can never get in a fair game because makers of games stack the teams in their favor by moving people around and it pisses me off. even if they dont stack their team you can never find a game with fair teams anyways. if its like wc3 or better.....hell yea.

Well I think thats a problem with alot if not all online games, maybe they should make people pay for additional accounts, or charge a monthly fee for anyone having more than one account registered to a game serial.

I for one will only make one account. I promise. :)

That is also a problem with alot of games, course the easiest thing to do is just leave a game that you think is stacked or only host your own games so you make the teams as fair as possible.

But from experience in a few rts you can never make the teams truly 100% fair, so sometimes random teams is fun. that way noone can complain about who got who.

Then again, I don't know if SC2 will have a random team option where teams are decided only have the game starts?

You ask us a question only Blizzard can answer. But I would like to see a rank system be implemented into Battle.net. It gives you a purpose. If someone calls you a noob and you have more wins than them, that's hypocritical.

And I do hope they match you up with someone of your skill level, as when I played Warcraft III RoC, I clicked the... what's it called... quick matchup? Anyways, I got matched up with this guy. When I told him I was just a beginner he told me to leave and not waste his time. So I was like ,"WTF a**hole, I'm not leaving, you leave!" Eventually I got him to shut up with, "I'll leave when I lose." I was pretty mad. He didn't even try to play against me, he was busy complaining about his wasted time until that last sentence. So I just made him suffer and built buildings all over the map so when he thought he had destroyed my base that he would win, he got mad.

lol, that game me an idea Ste. Maybe we should count space junk posts next to regular posts, and each and every one of those counts as a loss. No? ;)

As Dt_L said, only Blizzard can give us details, but we know for a fact that WC3 has a ranking system. With common sense we can figure out that SC2's ranking system will be equal to or better than the old one. 2002 < 2009+.

Well on hard forum they have it so post count is only visible in ones profile, and I like that way.

I would hope so, but its going to drive me even more nutzs until they say for certain.

I think it's guaranteed, really. Shadow[E] told me something I didn't know; SC had a ladder once that was later overshadowed by ICCUP etc. You can atleast count on SC2 being released with a ladder, but seeing as WC3 has made it this far, I don't see why SC2 wouldn't.

well one game i have really lvoed and have played every since it came out is Age of Empires 3.

although they had some serious balence issues for a long time (which ultimately ruined them...ES going out of business) they finally finished the balence.

the AOE3 ranking system is a pretty massive one, from conscript to Field Marshal it has 50 lvls.

its actually a really great ranking system although to be honest i like elo rating more.

if BLizzard made an elo type rating it would really make games balenced with the same lvl players. i would like to see something similar that AOE3 has to SC2.

^ Age of Empires: Asian Dynasties isn't balanced in the last official patch, Japanese and to a lesser extent India are way overpowered, granted Ensemble Studios didn't have much time to finish before going bankrupt but still. Thats what i like about blizzard, the games are mostly balanced.

    Rofl

Anyway, i'm guessing there will be a ladder, the problem i have with them is it makes it harder for a new player to find games, win;loss ratio doesn't look too good when you're learning the mechanics and neither does being level 2 when other people have been playing for 5 years.

    If true, spectacular news!

  20. Yes, it's been pretty much confirmed through interviews about Battle.net.

... But, after all, why wouldn't they?

But, still, I prefer the good ol' win/loss record. I lovez my loss accounts! :D
