Battlenet down?

  1. Lolgitech

Ive been trying for the past hour to log into the game , i get to where my email is written in the box , i do my password and i end up just getting the enter button, no picture or nick..
After ive waited for a min i get kicked back to where i write my password.
Ive tried about 10 times now and started to wonder if my norton utilities had fked something up.
I ran a registry clean etc etc today for the first time.
Anny ways , i call some of my mates on skype and they have had a similar problem but have all managed to log inn eventually , not experiencing the same "duration" as i am.
But when ingame they can only play against AI...
So im guessing Battlenet is having problems.
Anny one else stuck in login land like me?

Yeah I just logged in and it seemed to have trouble loading my profile, achievements, etc. Then I played the campaign and the FPS got really choppy and I got "Battlenet Disconnected" displayed on the screen. Quit the campaign, got "Connected to Battlenet" displayed on the screen again but still couldn't really load my profile effectively. It seems Battlenet is having some issues at the moment.

So im not the only one with this problem huh? I hope someone comes up with a solution even though this reply is quite useless since i have no idea what to do.

Bought the game yesterday and already getting fu*ked by blizzard Jeez  those money hungry bastards dont even give a sh*t that battle.net is down since they already got our money.

Its like every PC game selling online service F,s customers in the arse! Valves steam, Blizzard you name it... No wonder many game developers make games to consoles only :(

    same problem.... can't log in

I launch the game, type my password then appears a blank square where my avatar used to be with no way of doing anything else.

I tried typing a wrong password just to make sure, but then it says "wrong password" or similar so battle.net is not completely down i guess

    Does anyone found a solution?

They're aware of the problem and they're working on fixing it apparently.

    Match doesn't count.

Normally when this would happen during SC 1, it was just before a patch. They might have to perform B.net patching on their end before patching the client....

If you were able to connect before, and are now having issues, the problem is on Blizzard's end.

Here's the response from battle.net. Nothing I hadn't already tried but I confirmed all except tracert. That command wouldn't run on my computer.

I guess they go for the most obvious and it didn't help:

If you are experiencing connection problems with StarCraft II, please make sure you have tried each of the steps below. Even if you have tried some of these steps we always urge players to double check that you have done every one of them. Most connection related issues that you may experience are resolved by these basic troubleshooting suggestions.

Step 1: Confirm your Internet Connection Before attempting to connect to the Battle.net game servers, please confirm that your computer is able to connect to sites on the internet. One simple way to do this is to open a browser and try to connect to our StarCraft II Website. (http://www.starcraft2.com/)

If you are unable to connect to any websites or other internet-based applications even though your modem is on and the cables are all connected correctly, then please contact your Internet Service Provider for further troubleshooting steps so that you can properly access the internet.

Step 2: Power Cycle the Modem and Router

If the connection difficulties persist, please Power Cycle your modem and router to reset them and allow them to re-establish a connection to your ISP. Please follow these steps to completely power cycle the devices in your network connection:

    - Shut down all computers connected to the modem/router.
    - Power down/unplug the router if you use one.
    - Power down/unplug the modem.
    - Allow to sit for 60 seconds, unplugged.
    - Turn on the modem, allow to completely boot up till the front panel connection lights show a steady connection.
    - Turn on the router, if you have one, and allow to completely boot up as well.
    - Start the computer(s) and allow to completely boot up.

Step 3: Configure your Firewall and/or Router

Firewalls and routers are designed specifically to control your computer's incoming and outgoing connections. You may need to set up these security features to allow access to the game servers. If these are not set up correctly, the firewall or router may prevent you from connecting to Battle.net. You may also want to try bypassing the router by connecting directly to your modem with an Ethernet or USB cable. This is only a troubleshooting step and may help isolate where the connection problem is occurring. If you have any firewall software please try uninstalling it temporarily. Please only do this if you have a backup copy available. This will let you know for certain if there is an issue with the firewall blocking the connection. Most firewalls when disabled will keep blocking information so the uninstallation is necessary for most types of firewall software. For the Windows XP, Vista or 7 firewall, you will only need to disable it because you are unable to uninstall it. If the issue seems to be resolved by doing this the firewall was not properly configured.

Please see this page for port information and advice on setting up your firewall/router for StarCraft II: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=31520

    Step 4. Check for Updates

Out-of-date drivers or operating system files can cause connection issues. Please check for the average updates:
    http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/26225

Step 5. Third party program conflicts.

Some third party programs can interfere with your connection. Programs such as Xfire, Teamspeak, and Port Magic have been reported as causing some issues. Please try closing all background applications as explained on our support site: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21052

Step 6. Testing your Connection and Performing a Trace Route

Running a Trace Route will track each step of your internet connection to Battle.net, and can help identify if and where connection problems may be occurring. Please see this page for instructions on doing a Trace Route test:
    http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/26226

If none of these steps helped, please let us know exactly what error message you are seeing, and where in the connection process it occurs.

If you email our support team, please attach the tracert.txt file from step 6, or have it handy if you call in.

With my connection problems, the game wouldn't patch. I decided to uninstall and reinstall. I had to re-download the install file and I keep getting booted off while doing it (10 hrs so far). The downloader is direct downloading the file from blizzard rather than in p2p parts. Frustrating.

I also got an invite to rate blizzard customer service. Hmmm...

It might be worth obtaining a Dual Layer DVD and burning the entire thing onto that. XD Capt Pungent, start a separate thread for your connection issue and we'll go threw it.

On a side note, I can't connect to battle.net! Today is officially "Xev has everyone else's issue day!"
