IdrA and I sat down for a serious chat on StarCraft 2. We went over many things, including new units, theory on high-level competitive play, differences in the races from StarCraft 1, and MBS (Multiple Building Selection) Pros/Cons.

You can check the video out by clicking here:
    http://www.scforall.com/sctv/sc_tv01.asp?mNum=s03&movNum=254

If that video doesn't work for you, try the 3 part series on youtube:

    Part 1:

    Part 2:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lurmDi67SJE

    Part 3:

We're really interested to see people's thoughts / opinions / arguments on what we have to say, and will be keeping an eye out for any interesting points brought up for the next video.

    Thanks, hope you enjoy!

The scforall video didn't work for me so I watched the youtube version and have broken down my response accordingly.

    Part 1
Putting the emphasis on mutalisk stacking is like complaining about MBS or the new role of the hydralisk. This is SC2 and people should let go of old units with old roles and should accept the changes. Stacking in such a modern game would look flat out ridiculous, and so I think it shouldn't be implemented, and instead compensated for by adjusting the costs of the mutalisk.
    Part 2
Siege tanks are a lot more powerful, I don't know why you say they were weakened. I don't know all the exact stats off the top of my head, but AFAIK in siege mode it does 50/75/100 to light/armoured/massive respectively, plus the +5 per upgrade. That's an overwhelming buff to the tank. Also, when was this recorded? Drop pods were scrapped quite long ago and are now used for non-military purpose, so Terran aren't as mobile as the other races are currently.
    Part 3
Setting rally points can be done on the minimap, and seeing as how there are a lot more colours at greater resolution than in SC1, it'll be much easier to target accurately and conveniently, so the races are equal in this respect. As for MBS and automine, I can't add much there. There are these new race specific macro mechanics that are supposed to compensate for these, but I guess those weren't revealed when you recorded this.

I liked the chat but thought Idra should've spoken more. But maybe he isn't as talkative, in which case this was fine.
But both of you should practice proper handshaking :D

    Great stuff Artosis.

Anyways, in the current build the Thor has a splash attack against air units with a whopping range of 10, meaning that stacked Mutas will get horribly owned with their much shorter range. The Thor is available roughly around the same time the Goliath is in SC.

As Kuvasz said, Drop Pods are way old, now only used for dropping Mules.

first off, its a honor to have you on our forum artosis Ive watched all of your weekly interviews and listened to you commentate many starcraft I matches.

2nd, this was a great interview but i was thinking you guys should get the opinion of a non-pro gamer who is still just as obsessed with the game as the pros, casuals can love the game too ;)

also a note about the current build of the game, the phoenix no longer has the Overload ability, so the protoss are lacking in anti-air even more so. the phoenix currently has the Nullifiers old anti-gravity ability.

  5. [Borat Voice]: It's a very NICE!!!!!!

@muncie16: I saw your YouTube comment, and I must say, I hope you realize you're on a StarCraft 2 forum going to a link about StarCraft 2 and calling them nerds, right? Kind of like a teapot calling the kettle black, isn't it? What the hell man? You just lost so much respect from me.

@Artosis: Don't listen to the hypocrites. They're like haters. That's what they do.

I strongly disagree, stacking is the reason was mutalisks are effective and why massed air can be countered by psi-storms, archons the thor etc, even if it will look odd,it's a small price to pay for it in my opinion.
