April Fools! (Read on)

Congratulations on submitting for the Starcraft 2 FSP beta registration! This e-mail is confirmation that your submission has been received and is valid. Unfortunately, in true April Fool's Day tradition, you have been duped! APRIL FOOLS! Despair not, it's not as bad as it seems!


We have no beta keys to distribute at the moment but, as promised, all users who submitted for today's registration will be eligible for a fansite beta key drawing when the real beta begins. No other users will be eligible for this drawing - only those who participated in today's event. So a gigantic "HAHA!" to all of those who thought this wasn't for real because they are the ones who really got fooled. We really are going to give away beta keys!

We hope you enjoyed your 24 hours of suspense and we hope you have found a laugh and perhaps some excitement today as we surely have. We look forward to the Starcraft 2 beta just as much as you do, and we hope you'll stay tuned for when the actual beta is released, as we will be hosting additional contests and drawings for beta keys.


Again, all users who have submitted an e-mail to sc2beta@gmail.com prior to 10:00 p.m. (PST) are eligible for a Starcraft 2 Beta Key drawing from the participating fansites. Users will be identified by their e-mail submissions, so please make sure your e-mail remains valid so you can be contacted.

So if this is a drawing, then I assume it's random and not based on the content of the application? Still, good news that this isn't entirely a hoax.

I saw the pic and read the first paragraph and said "Damnit" before getting to the second.

Honestly, this is what I expected. I pretty much knew that it wouldn't be a flat-out joke. At least, I hoped to God it wasn't.

Hey, its an april fools joke with a happy ending! it could have ben nothing at all so no need to react like that!

 

The only people who lost here are those who didn't believe in the scheme in the first place.

We will be distributing keys that we receive to users who submitted. Period. Jokes aside.

The rest was to make a fun April Fool's day, which I thought we accomplished marvelously.

 

I'm still happy with the out come, some got a nice laugh and now we feel good knowing we have a chance for beta. Oh and remember, the cake is a lie. ah that phrase never gets old

oh i forgot to ask, can we know how many sent in emails? We don't need to know the names, it's just that I'd like to know my odds for when you guys actually give out beta keys.

 

That's of little importance if they focus on the content rather than draw randomly. But I don't know how they select the winners...

 

Well, I can assure that we have read almost every single e-mail submitted. I think we have a few left still.

However, I believe everyone who submitted a qualifying e-mail will be eligible for the drawing. Have to keep it fair. That could change, but that is the current decision.

As far as the beta fates of SC2F.org members, I wouldn't put too much weight on this contest. There will be much better opportunities for you guys down the road rather than being lumped in with the general population. Keep that in mind.
