Ok I have a question for all you funs, and it’s about apm vs proper apm action when needed. Should a player use at the correct time to act with more apm or plan it for a later time in game or should try more apm though out the game?
And one more thing i want to add so to make things more simple, is that we know that a RTS game like SC2 is not only (learning, applying and apm a lot though out the game), its also planning the proper strategy in order to win.

Hmm.. I'm guessing apm is EVERY action you do? Like if you look back and forth between control groups is an action.

So proper apm is like "useful" actions?
Not really an answer to your question but..

It all depends on your strategy and how much pointless spamming you do. Right?

APM's a pointless measurement. it's like asking how much a car weighs. sure, it affects performance, but it only has a minimal effect on the actual results, especially compared to other things you could be looking at.

a person with with 60 apm and with BRAINS can beat someone with 300 apm that doesnt know what the hell there doing and just randomly sending in units and not organizing them. not to mention that most apm is spam anyway...

I think Bisu would kill you if you said that into his face Balli.

But yes, APM isnt everything. Look at Savior, he has like 100 apm lesser than other pros.

a minimal effect?? are you joking? can you link to evidence of a "minimal effect" when both players have _equal_ intelligence.

From what I have heard most Pro's have a very high APM, but I guess it's necessary, there are no rally points and you can only select 12 units at a time, I think. SC2 will have less emphasis on APM than SC1 I think.

Not at all lol! Just look at war3... Many standard units in starcraft 2 already got abillities, and things like blink will just people do have even higher apm to suceed.

Ah good point indeed, hadn't thought of that.

Blink is something that looks fun. Btw APM counters take into account the useless clicks am I right (you click the ground 3 times instead of 1 to move a unit :p).

Yes yes they do. They also count "useless" apm.

APM is still very important and very indicative of skill level. If you watch any of the battle reports with David Kim, you'll have a a hard time disagreeing

Hell, it's real easy to get your APM up to a high number. I've seen it done. Just when there is a few seconds down time, you have your 4 groups made? Just go through hitting all 4. that will jump you up to the 200's easy.

I agree, when moving and clicking like 20 times too many to move...that's just ridiculous. I guess it would be good when keeping yourself ready to move in case something unpredictable happens, but most times...it's just wasted APM. There's no real easy way for a game to dictate what is Used and Un-Used APM....so, we'll have to sit and take it.

My APM is usually low constantly. I find no real reason to go back and forth between my central building, unit producing buildings, and workers say...

    Waiting for resources.

Or waiting for some units to come out.

I save my finger energy for when there's an actual fight, and I need to have finesse and good reactions.

I personally love useless clicks, even if they are useless it makes me feel faster and I just play better when I spam useless clicks. It isn't as if APM is a resource I shouldn't waste, at least not for me. ^^

yes, due to MBS and automine, but mules, dark pylon and larvae spawn from queen make up for that, so high APM players will still be ahead ALOT

I don't rly think we can or should separate usefull APM, or have any separation.

many players may do extra clicks, checking back and forth or continuely moving units that may look useless, but in thier mind im sure it keeps up a rythym and has a purpose.. Timming wise..

Yea I guess when you're clicking between units and your main base it's like you're looking at two screens at once so it could give you an advantage.
