Pretty simple rules. People who want to do it enter, I arbitrarily draw up brackets, and every week two people go head to head. The sigs are out and the people who entered the tournament but are not competing vote on with 25% general impression, 25% technical impression, and 50% artistic impression, all out of 10. Then anyone not entered can also vote with the same scale but they are all compressed into one average. Then we average all those scores and the higher one wins. Idea is sitll young but I'm wondering if anyone would be interested before actual planning.
Sounds nice, but anonymous voting is a must. However, being a judge takes skill and experience - how do you know that all the people out can value technical impression and the like correctly? Our knowledge in image editing vary greatly and we consider different techniques to be of varying difficulty, and so the scores would not be reliable enough, in my opinion. Which is why I think the points system is too complex for an international, public forum. ps welcome back
Yeah, I haven't drummed up the whole thing yet. I think that in the end there will be a panel of 4ish with high and low scores dropped and leave one seat for everyone who wants to participate. Then the general public score is averaged as one score and with high and lows dropped 3ish panel members scores + public score = final score. If a panel member is up on a particular week then we just give the public 2 seats. If two panel members are up at one time then we'll have a sub judge with 2 seats for public. At least thats the preliminary thinking. Of course there will be a prize and what not, but it will be more involved than other competitions because of the multiple rounds. Anyways, I just wanted to see if anyone was interested in this before I go too far in the planning. Good to be back, although your sig is a bit intimidating.
I would totally participate. Do we have to make new signatures for each round? Or do we compete with a single signature for the entire tournament?
It'll be a new sig each round, possibly all freestyle although there may be a theme for the first rounds. You can be a judge, but I was really thinking that the judges be from within the competitors, so you'll have to compete also.
