hi everyone Alright this is kind of my last effort at making sc2 run better. I've tried virtually everything, so to say. Starcraft 2 can run, it just gets slow and it's very hard to manage when there are many units. Not to mention the lava and space backgrounds also places an immense burden. I've tried several things to help ensure a smoother performance... Cleaned up, defragmented, cleaned registry, fiddled around with video card, tried gamebooster, lowered the windows properties to ensure performance takes priority. Most of these had little to no affect in terms of running the game well. So just wondering is there anything at all I should consider? Any input is welcome. It's a super fun game...I just...can't...experience full satisfaction. I often find myself writing sad poetry on cloudy days because of this. Unless...does anyone know how to force a resolution? I know if the resolution was say 800x600 it would probably run immensely better. But alas! Blizzard in all its wisdom and glory negated such an option! Anyways here are my specs and whatnot. And yes I realize they're not good and probably mostly inadequate. So am I completely beyond redemption?
I am in the same position myself and i advice you to use canyourunit.com it is not very accurate BUT it kind of shows you which area you lack in
Untrue, most video cards after the ATI 9700 Pro and nVidia GeForce 4 series are optimized for resolutions of 1024x768. The game would probably run slower. The game's min spec is a GeForce 6600. You have a 6150 LE (which is the lowest of the low when it comes to the 6 series cards). But damn dude, the rest of your machine is good to go. Also, if you want my input on defraging, Perfect Disk is the only thing worth using. Its great for finding and emptying temp files before defraging too. I'd pray you have an open PCIe 16x slot to toss a video card into. Paste a screen of your Mainboard and Memory tabs for CPUz too... unless you actually know how much RAM and the Make and Model of your motherboard is...
Hah yea I knew the video card would be rather lacking. I was just hoping that if all the graphics were turned to the lowest of the low it would run smoothly. Buuuuut guess not Anyways here's the mainboard tab. The memory tab part is in the first post. I'm just hesitant in putting down a couple hundred bucks and investing in a new video card. If only money was no object to me...
Really and truly,it probably will you got 2 gigs ram,a dual core procesor of 2.4GHZ per processor And the main fact,Blizzard optimizes nearly everyone of their games put it on the lowest settings, and you should be safe to give it a go as is said, use canyourunit.com and check out where you lack
yea says everything meets the minimum requirements except my video card. It is on the lowest settings and is still rather choppy. So just wondering if there is anything i should try as my last effort in hopes of playing a smooth sc2 before I put more money down. And lol when I first saw the url I read it as can-your-unit and I was like what? Can my unit? but it's can you run it... yea
My brother bought it for me and i dont know if i can run the game if it doesnt run well,i might have to sell it or just hold on till i upgrade my PC but no one would buy a used SC2 for full price
So, you have the Asus A8M2N-LA (HP OEM). I think your the 2nd person in 2 days to show up with this motherboard (except the other guy had already upgraded the video). Full spec here for A8M2N-LA. See, the thing is, why toss down $200 on a video card when a $70 card can get the job done? Best part about that card, you don't need a power supply upgrade (just plug it in). Got a buddy who runs one and its great (still haven't talked him into installing StarCraft II). He's running a machine that is just a bit slower then yours (Operton170 Socket 939, 4GB DDR1 RAM), and its great for pretty much anything he throws at it in 1080p. Hell, i think his is only a 512MB, with 1GB of RAM, you can prob play SC2 in Ultra. I do feel your pain with money though. I haven't had a computer of my own in a year (borrowed laptop now). Still, this is probably a more obtainable (and worthwhile) goal.
Always a possibility I may just wait and buy a new PC as I'm really not going to be using this computer that much since I'll be away for a few months with just a laptop. And I doubt my laptop's integrated family chipset card (if you even call it that) will be able to do anything. So I guess i'll play the waiting game. Which is always fun Thanks for the input though
