Ok, so we had animated buildings in Starcraft. And they will most certainly return in Starcraft 2 (Where you see simple building parts moving as well as animations to show a building is building something or upgrading...), how's about the idea of having more proper animations (showing units come out of buildings when they are created essentially as opposed to magically spawning near it)

Terran SCVs can be shown coming out of a Command Center when being built as well as dropping off resources.
Barrack units can be shown coming out of a Barracks ramp.
Factory units can be seen coming out of a Factory ramp.
Starport units can be seen emerging from the starport door opening up launching and going to the rally point or next to it.

Protoss units for a Gateway/Stargate etc, would be similar but shown "warping in" the building (if the warp in function not is used for Gateway units)

Zerg units will still use their eggs...

Well if you got the gist of what I'm on about, basically I'm saying that there should be proper animations for unit creation in buildings rather than the simple spawning nearby. :)

The only problem with this I can think of is the scale. A marine is significantly large scale wise to a barrack than he would be in a real like scenario. If this were to be implemented or at least trialled things may look a bit odd. Otherwise this idea looks good to me. Think it would look really cool with the warp gate for protoss air units :p.

Hmm... Guess it would be, but Zeratul's right. It would be a bit odd. Well, for the protoss, I don't think it would be a problem, because we saw how big the warp gates and stargates were compared to units. But for terrans, I guess Blizz could try to make the door a bit larger or something like that. Maybe smaller marines.

    ^welcome to the forums
BCs are a lot larger than the landing pad on starports

who says it has to be on scale to animate a unit coming out of the building?

I mean it's already off scale in the first place so might as well just implement a cool looking animation. ^_^

Thanks for the welcoming, but apart from that... Maybe they could make like mini pills that come out and get watered to become a huge BC :D

    No?

Well.. A man can dream... A man can dream!

Think about it: all these little drones things buzzing around a huge metal skeleton and slowly assembling it and then when it was complited all these cables would detach, a bit of smoke would come out(and some fat lady would hit it with a vine bottle, no) and it would slowly take off as the engine warmed up

    "Battle cruiser, operationnal"

I think those are all good ideas but a bit too much. I'd just like to see every structure have some kind of animation (see protoss structures), at least when they are active. It just makes them feel more real and not just static pictures.

well, i don't know really, it's interesting. the animations were crap for starcraft 1, and i am positive they will rock for starcraft 2

Well the alternative for the Terran Starport air unit construction, would be to keep the assembling ship under a constant cloak (assembling on top of the launch pad), undetectable by anyone, enemy nor ally. Only decloaking once completed.

ummmmm...I don't want to be rude but why would they cloak it in the first place?

So no one destroys it while it's under construction?
