I am unbelievably happy, it sounds like we have the old Raynor back!!!! YAY! Lord knows blizzard can shell out whatever he's asking, which probably isn't much. Maybe a tenth of a day's profit in wow subscriptions. TY BLIZZARD! now... if we can just get the old Terran "computer" voice back...
Yea i was thinking when i heard jimmy that either 1. Thats one good ****in voice actor, or 2. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!
What was good with Raynors voice from the start? Its still the same generic feeling echoing through my ears, but you've got a point cause it would've made a dissonance if it was another voice actor (though he definitely sounded different nowadays)
In reference to StarCraft1, I'd agree with Simbob. He was either done by a good voice actor, or Clotsworthy, because god knows he wasn't a good one back then. In StarCraft2, however, I gotta say it actually does sound pretty decent, which has gotten me thinking that it might have simply been the writers or characterisation than made me hate him so. I'm still amazed that he's managed to capture the hearts of the star struck masses, purely because he was the protagonist. Makes me think I should write a book, because no matter how I portray the main characters, everyone will love them, purely because they're supposed to.
Itzas hated Raynor in SC1 because he thinks that Raynor acts like an arrogant hero boy that can save the day anytime he wants to... I believe that is what Izta thinks of him from back then.
Yeah, that basically sums it up. He's presented as some heroic underdog, which I'm all for if it's done properly but Raynor was done worse than anything I've seen before, as is shown by the fact that it's nearly impossible to picture him as one. I mean, to be an underdog, you've kinda gotta have the odds stacked against you, and while they do attempt to show that at times, one man who believes his balls are the size of a small moon who all but single-handedly fends off an entire horde of Zerg that's trying to bite the arse off Zeratul's army, when Zeratul and his army were not able to safely hold it off on their own, has hardly got the odds stacked against him.
I have to disagree with you Itza, there is something really genius about Raynor's Character. His ability to stand up for what is right, and not necessarily what is easy In a very chaotic, corrupt, and violent existence. It's a simple Idea, but it blossoms into very complex things. For instance, being accepted by an alien race. In the center of the grandest of things, it's interesting to see a genuinely good guy. We'd all love to believe there's a little Raynor in us. Also-- I believe that every voice actor in sc1 preformed brilliantly, especially Raynor.
I agree completely! Just replace "really genius" with "absolute toolness" and "stand up in" with "act like a macho douchebag about". The only reason his character 'blossomed' into such complex things is because he was supposed to. It's got nothing to do with his character.
Agreed. Its kinda hard to imagine that after all these years, most of us are still very familiar with their voices, especially Raynor who poisoned his way through our eardrums.
I really hated Raynor when he shut the warp gate in Aiur to Shackuras, because he then said, "...what can I say? I'm a man of action." I hate arrogance.
