there should be some aerial buildings for each race, especially static aerial defense. these building don't need to be movable like normal terran buildings. they will be static and function while in air. this will offer strategic diversity.

here's are some simple example of what i mean:

make the protoss stargate and zerg spire aerial buildings.
give zerg an aerial defensive colony that releases some chemicals into the atmosphere.

I'm not sure I fully understand. The stargate already floats above the ground. I do like the idea of an aoe defensive attack though.

What your describing sounds less strategic and just aesthetic.

by making buildings aerial, ground attacks cannot damage them while air attacks can, just like there are ground units and air units, there should be both ground and aerial buildings.

imagine if there were an aerial defensive structure, then zealots, tanks and zerglings cannot damage it. so it would great base defense

There are still a plenty of ground units that can attack air units so it wouldn't really be that beneficial or balanced imo.

That would also be very difficult maybe even overpowered to take out, since the only way to kill it would be with air units which it is made to destory rapidly. The only way then would be to use ground units that could attack air. So you would then have to take down ground defenses first to get the light anti-air ground units in and then use them to take out the air defenses.

yes there will be balance problems but they can be solve with the experimenting with numbers.

and i only used aerial defense as an example, the general idea is to have some buildings being aerial structures(e.g. protoss stargate) while others being ground structures, no balancing issue here, just that ground only units can't damage them

that would take away the uniqueness of terran buildings

nice idea really. ii like the spire to be an aerial building that would be nice. also either 1 of each race should have an aerial structure defense(it can only be attacked by anti air units). that would be cool for the protoss, yes a floating canon or something. im kinda bored at the looks of the canons now, yes same old canon in starcraft 1 except theres a floating circle and it can now move.

It's pretty unfair that Terrans are able to have a building (Starbase) able to fly and make units as well so i agree with BnechbReaker

No it isnt. Terrans are known to be the most adaptable of the races, and from my point of view they seem to be the most mobile and economicaly effective too. The concept of turning one of your buildings into a mobile all-terrain factory suits the terrans compeltly.

i don't want other races to have mobile air structures, it'll take away terran's uniqueness, what i want is for zerg and protoss to have some stationary aerial buildings
