Hi guys, just got Starcraft 2 a few days ago and after much frustration I finally got through the placement league and was put into copper. I only won 1 of placement matches and lost the rest. I've played about... 13 more league games and few with my friends and I lost every single one. I've watched countless replays and commentaries by day9 and I've learn t some basics into playing Terran such as ramp blocking. I try to use hot keys and keep my resources low. I've read a lot of forum posts on strategies and after doing all this I still can't scrap a win on a league game. I seem to get dominated by every single person I play. Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop my losing streak? Its very demoralizing as I haven't won once after my first game. I watch my own replays and I'm aware of some the issues I have such as me being really gun shy or poor macroing. But whenever I try to address these issues such as attacking my opponent when I have a sizable army, I get completely destroyed. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
ok i am having a similer problem except im making sure im useing all my pratice league games but have you been doing all the chalanges they are great practice for anyone
I skipped my practice league games as I heard how they're not a very good way to learn as the game pace is much slower and since in practice, rushes are blocked and in real league games everyone rushes. I tried the tactical command challenge and got gold in it but I never did any of the other challenges.
So I'm not a great player but my two cents would be the following: 1. Always be building workers. If you don't at least keep up in the worker count then you can't build as big of an army because you don't have as much money. 2. Don't tech too fast. Don't build tech just to build tech. If you have scouted them and know you need an appropriate response or if it is part of your strategy, thats great. But don't just build because you feel like you need it. Those resources would (generally) be better spent expanding your current army and army producing facilities. 3. Scout. Something that is hard to remember to do but even if you just send a scv that gets killed, the information that it gains is almost always worth it if you pay attention. 4. Use your APM wisely. Unless you have amazing concentration then your actions are limited. In a fight, it usually pays to watch the macro more than you try and win the micro battle. Yes, you may lose a few more units but those few units lost in mid/late game are generally small compared to the extra 10 units you could have produced, the extra SCVs you could have built, the expansion you could have taken, etc. Just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth
a key thing todo in starcraft 2 is have a plan,so i would like to her your plan against tvt tvz tvp if you dont have one to begin with you have no where to go figure out what you want to do and do it. then tell us and give a replay. my terran vs protoss (the only match up i can play as terran) goee like this build rax add on tech lab. build rax reactor, upgrade stim and sheild, get ghost accdemy get a factor then starport, build marines and medivac, build ghost when you can when sheild and stim are done attack. (this is brat_oks tvp build from day(9))
Simple mechanics One thing that helped me early on, that I overlooked for quite some time, is setting your main base to a group number (Ctrl+#) and setting your workers to automatically start harvesting minerals when they pop out (click your main building, then right click on a mineral patch to set a waypoint.) This allows you to simply hit your group number and click train (instead of moving to your base, clicking it, and then clicking train).. and having them automatically harvest keeps you from forgetting about trained workers and leaving them standing around idle. (If you need a worker to build something, you can always pull them off the minerals) You may already do this...but if you don't..start doing it! My early game was crap until I learned this technique. Every second counts in the early game, and if you are fumbling around with workers early on, it will cost you. Hope that helps!
