Achievements coming to Starcraft 2!!

Blizzard has announced that the new "Blizzard Achievements" system will be a part of the Starcraft 2 experience!! They will also be enabled in Diablo 3 and the new WoW expansion. Apparently achievements earn lead to leveling up, much like the new PS3 Trophy system. These scores will be linked to your Blizzard account.

So what will Starcraft 2 get more ? It is being achieved ?

 

Sorry guys, I don't believe any information about Starcraft 2 that comes from a WoW designer...

 

Some of the people that work on WoW work on SC, and vice versa, right?

 

maybe on the graphic side of the games, but not the balance side, thats made up of old SC and WC3 developers.

 

It's highly doubtful that the Starcraft II achievement system is "all lies" made up "by some crazy WoW developer". I think this will be an awesome feature for the game.

 

Considering every game these days has achievements, that they're easy to implement, and gets people to play game even more... it would not surprise me at all if this were true.

 

Well...I did play COD4 on veteran just to get the achievements. It made me hate the game so much...

 

Achivement : Kill Kerrigan with 6 Zerglings

No cheats allowed for achivements of course.

 

I'm not saying it's not possible that this will be implemented although I am saying that it's unlikely.

I just don't count the expertise of a WoW developer as the same as Dustin Browder announcing this type of thing.

Unless I hear it from Karune or the SC2 dev team, it's a rumor.

 

I hope it's a rumor. Achievement system on X Box is the stupid crap people with way too much time on their hands obsess about.

Want bragging rights in D3? Well, how about your character's very visible level and gear?
Want bragging rights in SC? How about your ****ing win/loss record?

I for one; much rather not have a list of achievements that lists all the different strategies I use for my opponent to skim through.

The fact that this guy talks about a singular "Blizzard account" makes Bnet sound pay to play. That's just speculation of course.

Well they did speak about a Blizzard Score, so I guess they can't ''compile'' achievements of only one Blizzard game, else it would be named WoW Score.

I liked the achievements in TF2, it did and fitted well into the game. Let's see how they can fit that in SC2 and especially in D3.

i probably wont play SC2 just to get achievements ill play it just because its a sweet ass game.

 

How should this system work for sc2? It's quite clear for WoW and D3; kill that, kill this, reach Level X, ... and get some good looking item without any effect on your Stats.
But for sc2? Anything in the single player won't work because of the cheats, nearly the same goes for the multi player: need to kill X lings in a game? Ask your friend to send them in your siege tanks and get your achievement! That would be to easy to get something =/

 

Well, for single player, they could make it so that you can't get achievements with cheat codes on. For multiplayer, they could make it so that you have to do the achievements through matchmaking, not through a custom or setup game.

 

I rather like this idea, I have always been into getting all the achievements I could get in a game.

 

@Bloodhawk Blizzard account is already open. Blizzard.com. Go to your account, its not a pay for play feature for SC2 or anything, its just a place to gain access to their store and have a library of digital copies of all your old Blizz games.

 

Well if you look at Team Fortress 2's achievements i just played 1v1 with my brother and got them easier.
