Lately, I've been experimenting with a build that consistently gets me ~5 Mutas before or at 7:00, with 500 or so spare minerals that I can use on Speedlings (yes, there is room to upgrade speed) or spine crawlers.

Upon asking one of my Diamond friends (Diamond in 1v1) what he thought about the build, he said "I would smash the **** out of that." He went on to explain that with proper scouting, a 6:00 MM/ZealStalker push would be unstoppable at that point in the build.

However, when I asked him about 2v2, he wasn't so sure. As a Diamond team player, I honestly think the build could be very effective in 2v2 if my partner plays defensively. The Spine Crawlers combined with ranged units such as Roaches/MM/Stalkers and an extra Queen's transfusion could probably hold off any early pushes without much trouble while I got mutas out. And I can do a lot with 5 Mutas; they got me to diamond in 2v2 and 4v4.

What are everybody's thoughts on the build? Any other points you think should be mentioned? I'm looking for ways to make this build more effective, or a straight up "it won't work in real time" if that's the case.

    Thanks in advance.

In 1v1 it would be hard to pull off and keeping in mind current trends in team games the same could be said for those. We always get early aggression and lings aren't effective because of all the units on the field and the small surface to attack on. The extra queen can be nice but it can also hinder your team mate, and I can't advise anyone to invest in crawlers except for extreme situations like 4-gate in 1v1 or a shared choke in team games - provided you can get your creep there in time and that you don't obstruct your team mates' building placement.

I'm just not a fan of timing attacks/rushes.

Well, to clarify, I've given up on using this build in 1v1 and only risk it in 2v2 when I share a combined choke with my partner.

I don't rely on the Speedlings to hold off pushes; more just distract/ hinder them while my partner and my Spines deal damage. I use the lings to snipe proxy pylons, force Sentry's to use their force field, flank and prevent the enemy units from going out of range of the spines, etc.

As for getting the Spines where they need to be...I get a Lair EXTREMELY early with this build, and with proper overlord placement, I can generate creep for Spines without hindering my partners construction.

I do appreciate your input, by the way; I'm just debating so I can improve the build.
