Hello, im fairly new to the game and could use some advice on how to improve. I've been reading strategies and watching replays and sorry if this is not the appropriate arena to discuss this. Ihope someone can point me in the right direction as to strategies they use to improving so any help would be appreciated. (what you do to improve YOUR game) Anyhow, my standard strategy is to send reapers to harass and do a marine, maruder, tank drop. This is fairly effective on unsuspecting players however i seem to hit a bottleneck against any decent player and seem to panic and hit a wall. In this attached replay it seems like im just not keeping up and i don't know what im doing wrong. Am i just not focused enough with a plan and am not pumping units ? i believe i was key in my team losing so this is a good portrayal of my faults so any criticism would be appreciated.
You need to get away from the "standard strategy" concept. You need to rely on scouting and appropriate counters for what your opponent is doing. Just watch replays and learn/experiment with different strategies. Don't get nervous worste case scenario you lose and play again. Just keep in perspective it's a game and you should be having fun.
Yer recon is important. For example in the early game there a few things you could see to help your planning... Gas , double gas, or no gas? If a guy has no gas then he likely focusing heaverly on tier 1 stuff ad you could be seeing some kind of early rush coming your way (especialy if he got lot of troop production buildings). 1 gas normaly means your foe planing to tech a bit before attacking. Double gas means mean he going for something like early mutas or mech. Deffently a alarm bell moment. Also some tatics can be very risky and rely on you not knowing what your up too. For example in one game as the zerg my protost foe went stright for voidrays and ignored other troups, I so kicked my self when I watched the replay after Oh and watch replays. They really really help.
thanks guys! i never really knew what to look for in early recon but it seems like that makes a lot of sense
