Hi all, My partner and I are high platinum 2v2ers about to make the jump to diamond. I'm Toss and my partner is Terran. We're beating dbl diamonds opponents on a regular basis; however as of late, we are running into trouble against double zerg opponents. We're looking for suggestions on strategies against dbl zerg, and other good general strategies to use. Any help from community is appreciated. Thank you
Hellions and stalkers! Actually, I don't know, but if I had a PT team going against 2x zerg, I'd definitely want to try hellions and stalkers
I just recently came across a fun strategy of putting pylons in your opponents ramp with cannons behind them. This prevents them from getting out for fast expands. It also forces them to either build spine crawlers or tech up to hydras. At this point you can get colossi to mow them down once they break out. It's kind of cheese-ish, but it's a tactic that will slow even the best players down and force them to alter strategy.
Well Just dominate the map and you will be fine. make sure you have a perfect tactic that will help you win every time.
Well, dominating the map and having the perfect unbeatable tactic is not something you can "just" do, imo But yeah, being offensive against zerg forces them to use larvae for units instead of drones and sets their econ back...
Any time i see a ze player i always tried to keep the pressure on even more than normal. Zergs need to expand and thats when they get really hard to deal with.
I had someone try that but it didn't work out too well for them. I put my 2nd hatchery down in my main instead of the expo, and expanded my creep. Picked off some things with a spine crawler on the edge, since the cannons can't attack back without vision, and then did a 2x hatch speedling + some baneling mass. Broke his choke and razed his base a bit. Most players would be dead at that point, but he knew what was coming so he cannon'd/defended up pretty nicely. He had been going VRs off site (I think...hard to recall lol, might have been at his base) and sent those to attack, which I pused back with queens and some popping hydras (cuz I knew they were coming lol). Proceeded to harrass his base. Got away parking some banelings behind his mineral line for awhile...his VRs were out and his cannons couldn't reach them, so he had to pull his probes off mining for awhile to protect them. Hydras sniping from the edges out of range from cannons when I had enough to defend/attack at the same time. I dunno, like I said, the times I've encountered that kind of thing most players will die (or inevitably lose) at the bust. You could also just go for a "quick" slow-drop (tech to ovie transport and unload units off your cliff, bypassing the barrier very quickly). That particular guy did a good job at drawing out the match, but it still cost him the game imo. And experienced zerg are going to be used to reacting quickly to expo denial strategies. It's all the rage to piss off zerg that way in the same way you gas deny people
It's quite popular lately. both HuK and Kiwikaki used it against Slush in the EG master's cup and I've seen a few more replays with it used on pvz lately. And yeah it's quite a cool tactic to use and restrains your zerg oponent quite a bit and might cause them to mess up asside fromd enying them their expo. Either Slush or Machine did some nice reaction against it and won a game against huk using it(huk cannon rushed like 4 expos of his but he expanded even more, lol )
That strategy is getting ridiculous! I've had like 10+ games of Protoss doing that strategy. They tend to start doing it when they see the hatchery is dropped and then proceed to blocking + cannons. I haven't lost a game to that yet though, I cancel out my hatchery and take a chance at a far cross expansion, it worked all of the games so far. Spawn Crawlers + Creep tumors eventually get the best of it though. Edit: Just realized this was about 2v2, my bad. Still a 1v1 strategy still.
