2 possibilities for zerg!

    Looks like this will indeed have to be my last thread lol, I better make it good and go out with a bang.

    We have discussed the role of the pool on here. We compared it to the academy and the cybernetics core as being a "tech building". We also compared it to the the gateway and barracks since it is the first building that zerg make in order to make the basic warrior unit ling.

    Then someone countered and said "The pool is not like the gateway/barrack or the academy/cybercore" BECAUSE ZERG IS DIFFERENT.

    Then it hit me. The pool must then be comparable to the command center or the nexus....

    AHA!

    In SC BW it is common knowledge that zerg needed 3 hatchery to equal a terran or protoss expansion.

    and at the point of having 3 hatchery, you will have already made 1 overlord, terran will have made 1 supply depot and a command center, and protoss will have made 1 pylon and 1 nexus.

    Lets take a look at the food balance.

    3 hatchery + 2 overlord = 19 supply (total 1000 minerals)
    2 command center + 1 depot = 28 supply (Total 900 minerals)
    2 nexus + 1 pylon = 26 supply (Total 900 minerals)

    I believe that this is off by 8 supply for zerg at start.

    Now i've thought about it and making the hatchery worth any greater supply didn't make sense, even though it is worth 1 more supply in sc2, zerg still make less hatcheries.

    Then it hit me. The pool was suppose to be worth 8 supply. That's where the flaw has been with zerg all along.... It was the missing link, and I am not the weakest link.

    Here is the reason why.

    It has gone back and forth over the years over whether zerg was the agressor, or the macro defender.

    They are both, zerg has to agress at start, so that they can get the hatchery position at expansion.

    So zerg must make pool somewhat early to create the agression, but even before making warrior units, they had to make the hatchery at natural. The early ling push is still good, but you had hatchery already making before those lings went off to attack, so that you would be ready for the rebound.

    When you factor the overlord, the hatchery expo either comes too late to defend, or the zerglings come too late to agress.

    The right and proper and perfect b.o. is to pool and then hatch at expo before making overlord.

    But then if you do that, it then flaws your economy. That simple little thing of having 8 food from the pool was the problem all along.

    The zerg weren't unique enough from the very start because the pool didn't fulfill its unique role, its different role. Not really fulfilling the tech role, or really the production role... the unique 3rd option would have to be the food role, similar to the CC or Nexus.

    As a final note, I really would like to see the pool have some kind of 50/50 research upgrade that allowed for 4 ling production in 1 larvae, for 100 minerals for all hatcheries, not any other unit. Similar to how terran have the reactor for 50/50 and make double. Having the proper amount of combination of warrior(Ling) and gas unit, whether it was muta or hydra etc, just hinders zerg economy slightly too much.

    While toss and terran always have a large amount and combination of zealot and void ray, or marine/tank... etc.

    Does anyone not see what I'm saying?

Atlas, if you're reading this as a guest or with your third account, don't you think it'd be a good idea to try other fansites and see what they think about your ideas? It should already be clear what this fansite thinks. I am dead serious here, copy+paste your threads elsewhere and report to us in about 2 weeks' time. Just note that you'll be banned again for yet another account :D but I'm curious nonetheless.
