1v1 Stalemate

So me and this other guy are in a total stalemate and I'm not sure what to do. I have marines at every mineral field on the map, but I have no scv's and no command centers. The other guy only has a command center but is floating off somewhere I can't get to. Is there a way to end this match without taking a loss?

Really, there's no real end until some one gives up.

Though in OSL and other professional SC: BW and SC II leagues, the person with the military capability is declared winner.

 

Damn I dunno how that managed to happen with nothing but marines vs. a command center but clearly both of you want a win bad. Just outlast him or use some computer wizardry to crash his PC.

 

Whenever something like that happens I watch TV for a while.

Deep down inside I know the other person is extremely frustrated (which is why they pulled that crap in the first place) but I also know they will be so much more frustrated when they wait for 3 hours and take the loss.

I lost everything but my CC and a couple buildings, and barely had enough minerals for 1 scv. He had lost his base but had cannons and dark templar on the ground. We agreed it was a stalemate at one point, but didn't know what to do. Eventually, one of us won.

Usually, the person with the command center has the advantage, because they can land and start mining when you fall asleep of boredom.

No game should be worth the Win so much that you shaft yourself of your own play-time.

I'll never understand why people would just leave their computers for hours hoping the other drops.

I'm having that now. This guy tried a probe rush (once lost to that with drones) but I fended it off. Then I went to kill his base (after a while). It was easy but he has a few dark templars who destroyed my base. Now I have a floating factory and a starport and plenty of money. He has a warpgate and a cycore but unpowered. I thought about landing in the night and building a banshe with my starport and safely killing his buildings (his templars are out there) but I dont have a supply depot - so what can I do?

 

you can still build banshees without having suply depots right?

edit: oh and btw if you do build the banshees you should build them on a island where the dark templars cant reach your starport ^^

 

i think i can build nothing without depots. but he left now anyway, i dont know whether out of boredom or because his computer crashed (he claimed his wife had also a game and he was playing on the second computer). as i have an apple i was pretty sure about the stability of the program. in the meantime, i wrote a letter, three emails, went to the post office, to the supermarket, cooked dinner, ate, had two or three telephone conversations, read the newspaper and so on... the game went on for 8:33 hours.

If he had military units and you had the ability to make nothing due to lack of depots then he was the winner. It was pretty bm of you to make him quit after all that, imo...

 

Unfortunately I don't have the replay anymore. I would dispute your conclusion because as soon as you have lost or lifted off your cc one single unit - which is somewhat op in such situations as it is permanently cloaked and does ridiculous damage - can kill a maxed out army. It was clear that my army was much larger, I had plenty of remaining ressources, I had killed him except for two remaining structures and I could not even run around my troops because dts have enormous speed. I don't see how he deserved the win more than I did because in any normal situation he would not have stood a chance. The lifted buildings are as inappropriate in this situation as is the dt. But both are part of the game - I would have seen it as a draw if that possibility existed - maybe blizzard should add this option.

edit: I saw it as bm when he just went silent. As soon as the situation was clear I asked him several times "what now?", "any suggestions? " etc and he decided to just say nothing. Probably he was speculating that not answering me would be frustrating enough for me to rage quit. I don't know what I would have done but maybe we would have come to an agreement if we had discussed the situation. But when he just went silent and ignored my attempts to communicate about this somewhat funny situation (I put smilies in my posts) he rather caused me to not want to give him the win. Normal people should be able to have a nice chitchat over this very uncommon situation - so I saw his behaviour as bm.

Personally i am of the belief that if Structures are not landed after 5 minutes they set on fire to stop this kind of thing, Solar radiation or something, the higher up they are or some other drivel

 

how about any lifted structure counts as a unit until it lands.
