well i have been playing sc2 for a while now and i am a little troubled by something now. i dont know which kind of matches i should play. i have been thinking about it for a while now so i decided to ask the community. IMO, when i play 1v1, it seems very boring unless i play with a friend but in 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4, its just too hard if our bases are seperated. all the enemy has to do is get all of their players to early rush one of our team mates and that team mate will almost surely go down because it takes to long to get to his base. but in maps with us together, a lot of protoss cannon rush but otherwise we do fine. can anyone give me tips on how to stop cannon rush? and can anyone tell me what you guys think about this.

    thanks in advance :)

oh my god thats a fun question hehehehehe

Actually i allways counter attack if my friends are gettin canon-rushed because then your opponent (who was canonrushing) has allmost nothing in his base
    and suddenly it gets from a "4 v4" to a "3 v3" xD

or even better if your ally somehow gets rid of those cannons by lifting of (assuming its a terran) and then its a 3 vs 4
but of course the 3 opponents should have an advantage by that time D:

    Let him die

If someone is cannon rushing then the will probably not have units so a counter is much better than trying to stop his cannons with your basic units. Even if the player being rushed is not Terran and looses his base, just saving his workers and re building somewhere else can be good otherwise stopping the tower rush with his own d is good.

3v3 and 4v4 are my favorite games. Yes, a rush with 3 or 4 players will almost always overwhelm 1 but you just have to look at the situation and make the best choice. If they are rushing that usually means their base is open with minimal defense so you just have to decide in that given situation whether to help, let him die and counter or build defense yourself and tech. Usually an approach works best in my experience.

I like 1v1 the best personally, for me anyway, because it has a good competitive scene and the play style seems more dynamic and each action seems more important relative to the whole game.

If you are into teams though, try doubles with a friend of yours. That way, win or lose, it is fun because you get to spend time with your buddy and mess around.

As far as team cannon rushing goes, try going 1-base air against it, you can take advantage of their lack of units that way even though it is later in the game, the unit difference is still there. Or just get your buddy to help you out with a counter attack, maybe a drop. There are many ways around the cannon rush, to be honest. It really comes down to what you are best at. Personally, I like air because of the mobility but others will just drop the cannon rusher and wreck their economy.

At least in 2v2 ladder the maps are specifically designed so that is NOT a problem. Sure, on some of the maps your distance is a bit greater, requiring more map scouting and actually having units already made (rather than trying to build them in response to an attack), but your bases are still close enough that it shouldn't be a problem to lend support. Scouting/keeping units near your natural team choke, etc should be sufficient on those maps.
