1 sunken colony vs 2 photon cannons vs 1 bunker + 4 marines

    If there is:
    - 1 Sunken Colony
    - 2 photon cannons (no upgrade)
    - 1 bunker with 4 marines inside (no upgrade, no SCV, no repairing)

    *once the bunker collapses, the remaining marines does not count and cannot continue to attack*

    Who will win the battle?

    I'm tempted to say the photon cannons will win especially with lvl 3 shields. But if the bunker has a probe repairing it, I'm not sure honestly. Good question.

    Edit: mc2 edited the post! :) With no shield upgrades for the cannons I think it would depend largley on placement and what the sunken colony decides to attack first.

    and also have u notice that the "heat period" for photon cannons decreases as the cannons are placed closer to the enemy? what i meant is, if there is less distance between the cannon and its target, the phase disruptor (blue ball) needs less time to reach the target. hence more "blue balls" can be fired in a given time.

    Whereas the sunken colony, as soon as the "tongue" sticks into the ground, it pokes back up immediately no matter how close the target is.

    So in conclusion the photon cannon will definitely win if it's right next to the sunken colony. As the distance between them increases, the chances of the cannon winning are decreasing.

    i barely use terran so im not too sure how effective is the bunker + 4marines

    In general terms, I'd say the photon cannon is the best because:
    - the sunken colony cannot attack air, and it's not a detector
    - bunker with marines is not a detector
    - photon can attack ground and air and it is a detector

    the not a detector thing for the bunker is an issue in the earlier game. Terran defense works really well with a missile turret+bunker+siege tank layout with a probe to repair the bunker&siege tank.

    Never underestimate the simple bunker since it can be repaired and soak up a suprising amount of damage.

    yeah thats why i don't know if i should include a 'SCV for repairs' in this debate.....
    bcos it basically can repair endlessly provided there's enough resources
    but then again sunken colony regenerates health by itself, and protoss shield also regenerates.......

    Shields regenerate really slowly unless you have a shield battery handy though. I'm still leaning towards the photon cannons with this, even with their rate of fire issues at range. With one cannon I think the cannon would lose every time but two I think could win more than 50% of the time at least.

    1 x creep colony (75)+ 1 x sunken colony(50) = 125

    1 Bunker(100) + 4 x Marine (50) = 400

    Armor Type: Heavy

    Damage 4 x 6 = 24


    As you can easily see if you take the price into account its : sunken>>> cannons=(nearly)bunker

    But... as stated above Cannons can detect invisible and attack air units
    Marines can move :)
    Sunken can only be built next to your base

    Here you can see why sc is such an good game Units or buildingsare soo different they all have advantages and disadvantages and its really pontless to compare them to each other

    Ignore my post above and read this one:

    Rofl are you joking? its so easy too see cannons>> bunker>>> sunken

    Cannons are high tech good loking building they have plasma shields and damn they are just imbalanced
    Bunkers are not up to date even during the second world war they used bunker phhh they cant be good
    Sunken ??is this building a joke? Its just some ugly looking meat no intelligence i wonder how ever somethink could be damaged by such an shity building. holy shit this thing is not even worth called building lets call it ball of meat

    Good looking doesn't dictate how "good" something is. Concept cars look freaking awesome, ye they don't run.
    Bunkers, yeah, they used tehm in the second world war. Why improve upon perfection? Cheap, quick, and extremely useful.
    Sunkens completely pwn early units, from Zerglings (Hydros too actually), Marines and 'bats, and Zealots.

    I'd say the Sunken would win, because it's relatively quick, and mad power. However, it's also limited in usefulness because of the Creep. For sheer versatility, I'd go Bunker, because you can build it anywhere, and have five SCVs pop one up in a couple seconds.

    Only problems with cannons is that they fire slow and can get rocked pretty quickly :-\
